Custom Line is one of the top names when it comes to luxury yachts. The company, a brand of Italian yacht manufacturer Ferretti, is known for its large (greater than 30 meters in length), prestigious yachts. The newest addition to the brand continues in the luxurious tradition. This past week, Custom Line unveiled the 120 Planing Yacht.
The yacht is the first in the Custom Line brand to be designed with the help of Francesco Paszkowski. Paszkowski is one of the top yacht design and architect firms. In addition to Francesco Paszkowski, the yacht was designed in coordination with the Ferretti Group Strategic Product Committee, led by engineer Piero Ferrari.
The exterior of the yacht is designed to illustrate its pure power. The hull, which aims to maximize strength and speed as a racing yacht, uses carbon in the superstructure. The flybridge of the yacht extends toward the bow of the ship and doesn’t require any supporting props in the cockpit.
On the inside of the yacht, no detail is spared. Simply put, the interior is a neutral masterpiece with expansive innovation. The cockpit features a glass door leading directly to the lounge. The door itself is set at a 45-degree angle and positioned on a tilting mechanism which allows it to be completely moved up into the ceiling. The futuristic door design, as developed in conjunction with Macaer Aviation Group, makes it possible for the cockpit and lounge to transition into one functional indoor and outdoor space.
In addition to the door, the lounge floor itself is innovative. The lounge floor is what is known as a floating floor, meaning that it is elevated, giving an even more impressive view of the sea and surrounding environment. The support columns in the lounge house the air conditioning, speakers, and lighting, and create a luxurious residential environment.
Another key feature of the ship is the prestigious sun deck. The deck features a whirlpool tub and comfortable seating which is protected from the sun via a retractable hardtop roof. The roof itself also features a large skylight. The sun deck is also directly connected to the flybridge via lateral corridors with another point of access from the monkey bridge. In total, this yields a large deck of surface area greater than 100 square meters.
In terms of guests, there is one main-deck master and four guest staterooms, which are located below the deck. In two of the staterooms, beds face directly towards hull windows allowing for magnificent outdoor views.
The 120’ yacht runs on a pair of MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines which generate 2,638mhp. The massive horsepower allows a cruising speed of 21 knots and a top speed near 25 knots. In addition to the nominal cruise speed, the Custom Line 120 also offers an economic cruise speed at 11 knots and at this cruise speed, the yacht has a range of 1100 nautical miles.
