I go to Vegas often, and when I do I usually book through Vegas.com. I booked a trip a couple weeks ago for this next weekend. Recently the Monte Carlo hotel caught fire. It happens to have been the place I was scheduled to stay. I watched the fire on television and heard that the flames were contained to the top two floors of the hotel, and even then only to a handful of rooms. So I assumed that I wouldn’t need to move around my accommodations. I guess I was wrong.
Today I got an email from Vegas.com letting me know that the Monte Carlo is closed for repairs. But the best part is they had already re-routed me to Mandalay Bay. So not only did they move my room for me, they moved me to a better hotel.
I have considered in the past if I should just book directly through the hotel. Vegas.com gives me the rates for the hotel, it would be easy enough to call them directly and book a room. And it’s very likely that if I had booked through Monte Carlo directly the results would have been exactly the same. But none the less, I’m very happy with the fact that this was all handled by Vegas.com, and that they sent me a nice email to update me.
