On December 14, travelers along Interstate 240 in Memphis, TN were in for a gruesome surprise on their way to church that Sunday morning. The body of 18-year old Wajonel DeSilva was discovered by passing drivers on exit ramp at Interstate 240 and Mount Moriah. Her black Cadillac Deville was no where to be found.
Her mother, Toni Ladmirault, is now caring for DeSilva’s two-year old daughter, Jayla, along with her other three children. Ladmirault told reporters that Wajonel was a happy, joyful girl who didn’t have an enemy in the world. She said she hoped someone would come forward so she could find out what happened to her daughter. The girl’s body was in such bad shape that she had to be identified by a tattoo of her boyfriend’s name.
Investigators found out that DeSilva was last seen with her boyfriend who had just been released from jail two days before her death. He has been seen driving around in her car by several witnesses and has not returned it to the family. While police have stated that they believe DeSilva was hit by a car, the family believes that foul play took place and her boyfriend knows what really happened the night of DeSilva’s death.
