Reality TV Shows and Your Reputation

I recently caught an episode of Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel. It is a new TV series airing on True TV about the Rehab Pool Party that happens every Sunday at the Hard Rock Hotel. I thought the show would be interesting because mixing a whole bunch of drunks in simply clad bathing suits with plenty of cameras running around is always a recipe for drama.

After watching the show I began wondering what the show is actually doing for Rehab and the Hard Rock and their reputation. The cameras basically follow around the employees of Rehab as they wait on, serve and occasionally throw out the party-goers. The problem I have with the show is that occasionally, the employees say things they shouldn’t be saying aloud if they know that their comments or remarks are going to be aired on national television.

I’ve known companies that have fired employees over something they may have blogged or twittered. So what about the employees who blatantly flame their customers and occasionally their boss? I’m sure the Hard Rock and Rehab will actually see an increase in business because many will flock their hoping to be caught and camera and appear in the next episode or season. But for me, after watching the show, I don’t want to ever visit the Hard Rock again because now I know what kind of people work there and how unorganized they are.

The reality of this particular show is that it could make or break business for The Hard Rock. More than likely, it will get an influx in because of the cameras but the show displays the true nature of Rehab and the people that work there which may not be that appealing to some potential customers.
