In South Brunswick, New Jersey, twenty two year old Michael Maltese had big dreams, no work ethic, and a sense of entitlement. He moved into his parents’ house with his eighteen year old girlfriend, Nicole Taylor. His parents did not approve of his choices and Michael did not approve of his parents.
On October 10, 2008, Michael and Nicole went to New York for a weekend. Since he and his father had the same name, they took his father’s credit cards and had a grand old time.
On October 17, Michael reported to the police that his parents were missing. His father, who owned and operated his own tractor trailer rig, had not shown up for a run. After telling conflicting stories that were exposed by the police, Michael was charged with giving a false statement and released without bail. The police figured if they released him, something or someone would break.
The police were right. The police brought Nicole and Michael in for more questioning. Affidavits reveal that Michael killed his parents in the early morning of October 8 and buried them in Beech Woods Park. Nicole knew what was going on and assisted Michael after the murder. On October 24, Michael Maltese and Nicole Taylor were arrested and charged with multiple counts that included murder and credit card theft. They are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where Maltese is charged with murder, giving a false statement, and theft while Taylor is charged with theft and conspiracy to commit murder.
The bodies of Michael J. Maltese, 58, and Kathleen Maltese, 53 were found buried in shallow graves in a wooded area of the park. Autopsy results and cause of death are pending.
