I’ll admit I’m not a wine guy. I would love to be, but I simply do not have the palate for it. I can barely tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi. So needless to say, good wine is wasted on me. And since I’m not a big drinker, even the side effects are of little use. But I have the two standard guy weaknesses; I love beautiful women, and I am a sucker for good marketing. Enter Marylyn Monroe Champagne.
The good, and obviously smart, people at JM Gobillard & Fils are launching a new fruity champagne at the world’s largest wine trade fair, and calling it Marilyn Monroe Premier Cru Brut. Very clever. The champagne is made for Norwegian based Rosmersholm, and comes in a very nicely designed bottle, sporting nearly as many curves as the legend herself.
Marilyn Monroe Premier Cru Brut is made from 50% Chardonnay and a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and is then aged in a cellar for three years.
The champagne is going for about $100 per bottle, which isn’t bad for a decent champagne. And for an extra bonus, you can order the $250 package, which comes with 6 nicely designed flutes that commemorate the champagne.
Along with being a sucker for hotties in marketing, I’m also into novelty. I may have to pick up the bottles and glasses as conversation pieces alone. You can purchase a bottle here.
