Port St. Lucie, FL— Eryn Allegra, 31, took the life of Tristan Allegra, her eight-year-old son, after attempting a planned murder suicide. Eryn Allegra had no money, she was unemployed, and she had recently lost her home to foreclosure. Tired of struggling with their finances she contemplated the notion of suicide for several months. Concerned with leaving her son behind after her death, Eryn decided to kill him before attempting to kill herself.
Just before Christmas, Eryn made a reservation at the Holiday Inn where she served Tristan his last meal. During that meal she told her son to take 8 Advil tablets. Concerned that the overdose would not be enough to kill the boy, after Tristan went to sleep that evening, Eryn suffocated the boy by holding a pillow over his face for a period of 15 minutes. After killing her son, Eryn went to the hotel bathroom where she attempted to cut her wrists; the attempt failed because Eryn claimed that the razor blades were not sharp enough. She placed a call to 911, and was treated for relatively minor cuts on her wrists and arms at Lucie Medical Center. Shortly after leaving the hospital after being treated, Eryn Allegra was charged with first-degree murder and brought to the Lucie County Jail.
