If Apple continues to follow past trends, the next iPhone 11 (or iPhone XI) will be released in the fall of 2019. Though the iPhone maker hasn’t provided official news, rumors have already painted a picture of what we can expect from the newest smartphones.
Apple typically reveals its new products at an event in September, while this year the company is expected to announce the three new iPhone 11 models along with the Apple Watch Series 5. Generally, the newest phone goes on sale roughly two weeks after the release date, meanwhile, preorders will likely start the Friday after the announcement.
The official price of the iPhone 11 hasn’t been released yet, although it’s likely that it will be similar to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max pricing. The cost of the iPhone is expected to start at $999 and go up for additional storage or for the larger screen. Since we expect three iPhones to be released, it could be assumed that the company will offer a low cost iPhone (similar to the XR), in which it’ll likely start at $749 and go up in price for additional storage.
According to 9to5mac, the iPhone 11 will feature iOS 13, which is expected to be announced at WWDC 2019. Past rumors have suggested that Apple will offer two new iPhone models with 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays. In addition, it may even offer a triple camera system for the high-end iPhones. It seems that the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 will not be receiving camera updates as it will be keeping the dual-camera system.
For the high-end models, the anticipated third camera will feature an ultra-wide-angle lens to capture larger and more detailed photos. The front-camera will also receive improvements, increasing its megapixels from 7 to 12. In addition, the existing 4-element lens will be upgraded to a 5-element lens component.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple’s flagship 2019 lineup will include 2 OLED and 1 LCD variant. It is believed that the current screen sizes will remain the same for the iPhone 11 phones, though it’s rumored to be getting an upgrade in 2020. According to Digitimes, Apple is working on the launch of three new iPhones in 2020 that will feature OLED displays. Currently, OLED screens are offered on iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Apple also plans to offer new screen sizes for the 2020 iPhones, possibly offering sizes of 5.42-inch, 6.06-inch and 6.67-inch diagonally.
