Samsung’s new Galaxy S10 series smartphones are said to have wallet functions for Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC) and two other tokens. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 25, a Samsung official spoke in regard to the phone’s new features.
During its presentation, Samsung announced a variety of crypto and blockchain related projects that are featured on the smartphone, including support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, COSMEE token (COSM) and Enjin’s token (ENJ). users can earn and spend COSM tokens with COSMEE, a blockchain-enabled mobile beauty decentralized app.
According to COSMEE, it was selected by Samsung as the first partner DApp supported by its upcoming smartphone, in which users earn COSM tokens in exchange for leaving beauty reviews in the app. The Verge reports that Cosmochain, the South Korean blockchain startup behind Cosmee, describes its app as “a blockchain-powered beauty review app — the blockchain is supposed to be a useful way to record all the reviews reliably.”
In addition, Samsung announced support for the cryptocurrency called the Enjin Coin, an Ethereum-based digital currency for gamers. The South Korean tech giant also stated that it would support contactless payments using cryptocurrency.
Various reports surfaced regarding Samsung and crypto integration. Back in December 2018, Samsung dismissed all ideas regarding an integrated crypto wallet as a “rumour and speculation.” However, a month later, photographs were leaked of the new smartphone, which suggested that the Galaxy S10 would support an Ethereum wallet.
