In Mobile Alabama a university professor was arrested for sending pictures of his erect penis to teenage girls. The way that police caught up with him was because a special agent was posing as a 13 year old girl, who was actually an adult male FBI agent. The agent was able to link the professor to the pictures and the correspondence because although Barry Simpson used an alias, he used his work email address as his alternate email contact in Yahoo! And he also sent pictures that were found on his employer’s website profile. Simpson actually made it really easy for authorities to find out exactly who he was, making an arrest and proving their case quite simple.
Chances are this university professor won’t be back to his job for some time, and if he ever teaches again it will probably be while he is a member of a national sex offenders list! While the story is quite disconcerting, unfortunately FBI agents have suggested that this is not at all uncommon of a find. Agents continue to run these covert operations to uncover more pedophiles looking to share inappropriate images or make contact with minors.
