Normally, a preowned 2017 Audi RS6 Avant would not generate such much excitement, but this car, in particular, has drawn significant interest due to its previous owner. Travel in style in a gray 2017 Audi RS6 that was once purchased by the Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex in April of 2017.
Though Prince Harry owned the vehicle for one year before was put on the market, it was only driven 4,500 miles. Vanity Fair has reported that Prince Harry’s Audi RS6’s most rememberable outing was when Harry drove himself and Megan Markel, his now wife-Duchess Meghan of Sussex, to Pippa Middleton’s wedding a month after he purchased the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Overton Prestige has commented on the sale saying “Due to data protection we can’t confirm who sold the vehicle but we are completely satisfied that this car was used personally by Prince Harry over the course of the last year.”
Prince Harry has a wide collection of cars, including the classic Jaguar he used to drive his newlywed bride, Meghan, to their wedding reception. The car used to drive Meghan after he had changed from her Givenchy wedding gown into her flowing halter-neck made by Stella McCartney was a sporty blue 1968 Jaguar.
Celebrity-owned vehicles are frequently priced up as they are considered more valuable once driven by a celebrity. However, Prince Harry’s car was not priced much higher than the original market price.
Though the car looks ordinary and like any other Audi RS6 Avant, the performance of the car highly exceeds similar vehicles. This particular Audi is equipped with a 4.0-liter, 552bhp, twin-turbo V-8 engine. Prince Harry even requested the Dynamic Package Plus allowing the vehicle the ability to exceed 155mph. The distinct “Quattro” logo on the grille is also absent on his Audi RS6.
Prince Harry’s recent wedding has raised speculation as to why the car is going on the market so soon. Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, Erin Baker, said, “It begs the questions why is the Prince selling so soon? Maybe he’s on the market for a bigger family car…”
Although it is hard to speculate on the royal family’s intentions, and even more difficult to imagine the royal family riding around in a minivan, what is true that the Audi owned once by Prince Harry is definitely being sold from within the royal family.
