The TV icon who rose to fame on Beverly Hills, 90210″ has passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a massive stroke. Luke Perry passed away Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank. Luke was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiance Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends, according to his rep.
TMZ reported that Luke was rushed to the hospital on Feb. 27, after suffering from the stroke while at his Sherman Oaks, CA home. According to TMZ, Luke was responsive and talking when EMTs arrived, though his condition began to deteriorate. According to his reps, doctors sedated Luke in hopes of allowing his brain to recover from the trauma of the stroke, however, the damage was too extensive.
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman in “Beverly Hills 90210,” described Luke as a “tremendous force.”
“I am absolutely heartbroken. Luke was a tremendous force in the lives of so many. He was a very sensitive soul who was kind, generous and he fought for the underdog, she said. “He was a strong voice and an advocate who will be so missed by all who knew him. He has left his mark – never to be forgotten. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans around the globe.”
From 2017 up until his death, Luke Perry starred as Fred Andrews, playing the protective dad of Archie Andrews on the CW series Riverdale. The Riverdale Writers Room remembered Luke as a “joyful and vibrant soul” on Monday.
“Luke Perry… you were a joyful and vibrant soul. You will be missed but most certainly your legacy will be remembered forever,” they wrote. “Rest in love and peace, friend.”
