When I was a kid I used to remember putting those glow in the dark stars and planets all over my walls and ceiling. But we’re in the 21st century now I think we can do better than that, say hello to LED illuminated walls.
At first glance I will admit that this kind of reminded me of the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas that has a giant light canopy. But I like the idea of doing mood lighting. Can you imagine being able to change the color of a wall with just the touch of a button?
The LED wallpaper was created by Phillips in collaboration with Kvadrat Soft Cells. The Phillips LEDs are integrated in Kvadrat Soft Cells acoustic panels allowing you to play around with the colors and light while using fewer resources.
According the Phillips the panels will be able to take a variety of forms. The aluminum frames are patented and allow the panels to fit into a variety of spaces. The frames also hide a tension mechanism that keeps the frame stretched to the correct tension this ensures that light and sound are moving in the right direction.
Release dates and prices haven’t been released yet but we will be on the lookout. I can see this being used in hotels in the near future.
