DSLR Mount for the iPhone

I am not afraid to admit that I am a sucker for photography. I own multiple types cameras from the old vintage and retro to pocket size digital cameras and digital SLR cameras with a flurry of various lenses.  I can spend countless hours looking at photos and deciding just what makes that particular picture a GOOD photograph. Is it the camera or the post processing effects? Maybe it’s the lighting or the lens? Or the subject of the photograph might contribute to a good picture too.

Even my iPhone is full of camera apps. I’ve tried them all from free to pricey even though the iPhone camera is pretty lousy. But I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw this iPhone SLR Mount on the Photojojo store. I’m quite familiar with Photojojo. I own their book, which I have read several times, and I have taken one of their ideas and created my own DIY photo magnet rope out of ball chain and tiny little magnets.

We all wish our DSLR was smaller and more portable. After all, who wants to carry an extra 12 pounds around their neck all day? The SLR mount for the iPhone eliminates the need to carry around an entire DSLR. All you need is your iPhone, the mounting case and any one of the Canon EOS or Nikon SLR lenses. Now you have full depth of field and manual focus, every photographers dream. They case even has two loopholes on the side so you can attach a camera strap and carry it around your neck like a real DSLR at half the normal weight.

The case is made up of aluminum and includes either a Canon lens adapter or a Nikon lens adapter along with a UV filter. The SLR mount for the iPhone 3 is $190 and the iPhone 4 SLR mount is $249.

I would love to get my hands on one of these to test out the quality of the images as well as the stability of the case itself but for now it’ll just have to be added to the wish list until later.
