There is no denying that fanny packs have become a fashion large trend and now Fendi and Fila have a created their own twist on the fanny pack design. Fendi has collaborated with the old-school sportswear brand Fila, as part of Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2018 Collection, where during Milan Fashion Week, we first received a glimpse of the monogrammed waist bag.
Fila is a South Korean sporting goods company that originated in Italy in 1911. When Fila began, the company primarily sold underwear but in the 1970s, they began moving into sportswear thanks to the tennis player, Bjõm Borg. In May of 2011, Fila acquired Acushnet Company, a golf equipment manufacturer, and became the owner of several leading golf brands. Fila now has offices in 11 different countries and features a wide selection of sportswear, clothing, and accessories.
Fendi was founded in Rome in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi and is renowned for their fur and fur accessories. The Italian luxury fashion house produces ready-to-wear leather goods, shoes, fragrances, and accessories. Fendi is well-known for their leather goods such as their ‘Baguette’ and ‘Peekaboo’ handbags.
In Fendi’s 10th-anniversary campaign for the staple Peekaboo bag, three generations of the Kardashian family where featured in an event titled ‘#MeandMyPeekaboo’. The event featured Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian-West, and North West, and all three Kardashians posed in logo-covered clothing for photos around the Los Angeles, CA area.
Fendi felt it made sense to use the three generations of Kardashians thanks to the amount of attention Fendi received when Kim Kardashian posted a photo to her Instagram account in a matching shirt and leggings outfit covered with Fendi’s “FF” logo. The motive behind this campaign was to show that Fendi’s Peekaboo bag is, not only current in 2018 fashion but, can also work across generations.
Fila, now in collaboration with Fendi, has made a Monogrammed Waist Bag that displays Fendi’s luxury “FF” logo throughout the base in a monogram form while Fendi’s brand name is presented front and center across the bag in red and navy blue. The strap of the bag is made from calfskin leather and is completed with a gold-finished metal zip closure. The bag, which was made in Italy, features an adjustable belt in ribbon and is made of glazed fabric in tones of brown.
Fila x Fendi’s Monogrammed Waist Bag is currently available for pre-order through Fendi’s online store and is priced at $1,190. According to Fendi’s online shop, the Monogrammed Waist Bag should ship out to those who pre-order no later than August 30th, 2018. The piece can also be found at Fendi’s kiosk shopping experience at Selfridges in London once it arrives.
