Dennis Quaid, who starred in several films such as The Parent Trap, The Day After Tomorrow, and Breaking Away, has listed his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles, California for $6.5 million. The actor experienced some trouble getting noticed in the industry and finding film roles until 1979 when he appeared in Breaking Away. After his appearance in The Right Stuff, for which Quaid received strong reviews, he began getting noticed in the film industry. He was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in Austin, Texas and then in November of 2015, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7018 Hollywood Boulevard.
Dennis Quaid told the Wall Street Journal he intends to sell his home due to his recent divorce from wife Kimberly Buffington-Quaid. Dennis originally purchased the Pacific Palisades estate in 2013 for $5.1 million. Five years later, he and his ex-wife are now listing the home for $6.5 million. The actor also sold the home he had in Austin, Texas earlier this year and has since relocated closer to Los Angeles.
Dennis Quaid’s Pacific Palisades home, located at 13926 Sunset Boulevard, includes a swimming pool, movie room, and playroom. The 6,114 square-foot home also features five bedrooms, one master suite bedroom, nine bathrooms and an office. The estate showcases multiple Spanish-style details including a red tiled roof, exposed beams, and several arches.
The living room is designed with vaulted ceilings, arched windows, as well as leaded windows, and a stone fireplace. The living room leads into the formal dining room with enough space to seat ten guests.
The kitchen is equipped with Viking and Wolf appliances and a chef’s island which provides a significant amount of space to prepare any meal desired. The kitchen also features terra cotta-style floors and marble-topped counters, as well as an eat-in breakfast nook which creates a peaceful, comfortable environment. The home also has a media room which uses an HD projector to allow residents to enjoy a variety of entertainment. The master suite features his and her closets, double bathrooms, and a sitting area. The large patio terrace included in the historic home is furnished with lounge seating.
“I never thought of living on Sunset Boulevard before,” Mr. Quaid told The Wall Street Journal. “But it turned out I had more privacy being on Sunset than anywhere else.”
The home provides privacy with large hedges and mature fruit trees surrounding the backyard. The backyard also has a swimming pool, spa, and lounging areas with multiple terraces that can be used for dining or sunbathing.
Though Dennis Quaid is giving up his beloved estate due to his separation from Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, he isn’t moving too far from the Pacific Palisades home. Instead, he is simply downsizing to something more suitable for himself. According to Variety, he purchased the 4,115 square-foot home in Brentwood Hills for $3.19 million in December of 2017.
