Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Responds to Wall Street Journal Columnist’s Tweet

Wall Street Journal writer Peggy Noonan commented on congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night. Noonan tweeted: “ AOC had a rare bad night, looking not spirited, warm and original as usual but sullen, teenaged and at a loss.”

Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, responded saying,  “Why should I be ‘spirited and warm’ for this embarrassment of a #SOTU?”

Peggy Noonan also tweeted in regard to the white jackets worn during the SOTU writing, “And good natured with the white jackets, who I see some on twitter are calling the straight jackets.”

Ocasio-Cortez sat amongst a group of Democratic women wearing white as a symbol of Democrats winning majority in the House during the midterm elections. It was also to show that women’s economic security is a priority and was intended to honor the women’s suffrage movement, resulting in the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
