Fort Pierce, FL — Thirty year-old Timothy Richards’ girlfriend suspected that he was molesting her 20 month old son. Instead of merely kicking him out, or going to the police with her suspicions, she put a ‘nanny cam’ in her son’s room focused on the changing area. Once she looked at the video that was taken, she had the proof she was looking for.
Since his girlfriend gave the video to the police, Richards can’t deny that he was molesting the toddler under the guise of applying diaper rash cream. Instead of walking off and possibly abusing another child, Richards is being held in jail without bond and awaiting trial. Unfortunately, the price of his jail time and probable conviction is this poor child had to go through being molested again.
The child’s mother must be wracked with guilt and wondering if there was another way she could prove what happened without leaving her son open to being molested again. With a child who cannot talk or explain what’s going on, it’s all about proof. Richards could have denied anything was happening. Because of this mother’s actions, other children were saved from being abused by a pedophile, which is the best outcome.
