In Wichita Kansas the lives of many people will never be the same. Michael Janzen and his girlfriend Kasey Brown were breaking up despite having spent a good amount of time together. Janzen loved Brown and her little 10 month old daughter, Brooklyn. But, the relationship came to an end when Brown decided she wanted to back to her husband and broke things off with Janzen.
Janzen was not happy about this decision but ended up babysitting little Brooklyn while Brown was at work one night. During this babysitting stint the baby became unresponsive, and instead of calling 911 and getting immediate help Janzen brought the baby to her mother’s work, where she proceeded to call 911. The baby was taken by ambulance to the hospital where it was discovered that she had a large skull fracture. When questioned Janzen first stated that he accidentally dropped the baby, but when autopsy findings didn’t jive, he admitted that he had purposely slammed the baby’s head into the floor two times. He stated that this act was in response to the frustration that he was feeling over losing Kasey Brown to her husband.
Michael Janzen now sits in the Sedgwick County Jail and it doesn’t look like he will be getting out, as he has a one million dollar bond. He has been charged with first degree murder.
