Bolingbrook, IL — Laura Obzera, 49, a school nurse for Wood View Elementary School located in Bolingbrook, was accused of having sexual relations with underage teen boys. According to allegations, all of Obzera’s victims were aged thirteen to seventeen, and according to reports, the boys were not met through Obzera’s position at the school.
A full investigation into Obzera’s activities was commenced when a call came into the abuse hotline pertaining to sexually suggestive text messages occurring between a minor aged boy and Obzera. The Department of Children and Families decided to investigate, interviewed the student receiving the text messages, and soon discovered that there were even more victims. Police were informed, and the investigation intensified, revealing that the incidents occurred with several boys and began in 2006. Further investigation revealed more recent contact and interaction. All of the victims asserted having sexual contact with Obzera.
Wood View Elementary, in an effort to reassure parents, released a statement asserting that none of the incidents involving the molestation occurred on school property. Obzera was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, three counts in all after her arrest. She posted the $50,000 bail which was set and was sent home.
