Interview Tips

Most of us have been through job interviews. No two job interviews are the same but there is one question that can usually make any person feel like a deer caught in the headlights: So tell me a little bit more about yourself. This question can be a difficult one to answer if you aren’t prepared.

Practice makes perfect. We have all heard this phrase about a million times and it couldn’t be closer to the truth. Practice your about me until you can repeat quickly and are happy with.

Keep it simple. Try to keep your about me to a few sentences or less. You should be able to accurately describe yourself without giving an entire biography of your life.
witty. Your about me should be enjoyable and entertaining. Don’t be afraid to show your personality. I once told an interviewer that I had a jar of charisma that I brought to work every day.

Don’t be afraid to be witty. Your about me should be enjoyable and entertaining. Don’t be afraid to show your personality. I once told an interviewer that I had a jar of charisma that I brought to work every day.

Describe what you do. Describing what you do can be as simple as telling the interviewer what your job title is: I am a collections and loss prevention manager. The alternative is describing what kind of work you are looking for.

Describe you unique talent. This should immediately follow what you do and should describe a unique talent that you possess and relates to the job, for example: I am a collections and loss prevention manager with a superb knack for keeping bad debt at a minimal level.

Your life mission statement. Not everyone has a mission statement but they should. What is the golden rule that you live by? Try to relate your mission statement to your work ethic: I believe in living without fear and I’m not afraid to take chances and try new things at work and in my personal life. This makes a great addition to your about me description and can provide the interviewer with a sense of your personality and ethic.

End your about me with I love blank (you fill in the blank). This sentence should be positive and witty but still describe you. Some examples are: I love making people laugh and turning frowns into smiles or I love solving computer problems because it gives me a sense of accomplishment and usefulness.

All together it looks like this: I am a collections and loss prevention manager with a superb knack for keeping bad debt and a minimal level. I believe in living without fear and I’m not afraid to take chances and try new things at work and in my personal life. I love making people laugh and turning frowns into smiles.

Hopefully with these simple tips in mind you can ace your next interview and win that awesome job you’ve been looking for.
