Bowmore released its 19-year-old single malt that was matured entirely in first-fill French oak barriques and if you desire to have beloved whisky delivered right to your door, then this one is for you. Bowmore will be an Amazon exclusive that has already been released across the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France and Japan. The limited edition expression is a first ever for Bowmore, while being matured solely in ex-Chateau Lagrange French oak casks for a full 19 years in the Islay distillery’s No.1 Vaults.
Bowmore is known for its high-end releases and now Amazon gets the opportunity to step into a new territory as the company will sell its first exclusive bottling of a Scotch whisky, unable of being found elsewhere.
The single malt whisky is bottled at 48.9 percent ABV, while its described as containing “aromas of candied apple, honey and Bowmore’s signature light peat smoke, developing into rich toffee, wild honey and exotic spices on the palate.” Amazon is selling only 4,500 bottles of the single malt whisky online for £120 ($153).
“This unique new expression has been patiently aged for 19 years in French oak barriques to impart a richness of flavour that perfectly marries with the gentle peat that has made Bowmore so famous,” said David Turner, Bowmore distillery manager. “It’s the first time we’ve offered a whisky of this age and maturation. We know everyone who buys a bottle will be rewarded with a liquid of exceptional flavor and character.”
